Make up your mind son. You can have Trans Am / GTA / Ground Effects, or you can have Formula. Formulas don't have ground effects - period. Ground effects are for making a car look faster, Formulas don't need them because they're actually faster.

PS That's a Firebird with the Aero Package in the photo, not a Trans Am, GTA, or Formula.

PPS Try the classifieds, or the restoration houses. The front pieces are reproduced, and not terribly expensive. To avoid damaging the replacements, avoid the temptation to lower the car, swap in stiffer front springs from a FE2 or WS6 car, replace the front struts. You might also consider not running the air dam extensions on the fender GFX so they won't get caught on everything.

Formulas never came with ground FX, base wing, 15" wheels and flat hood.

A lot of states confuse the base bird and the formula because they use the same VIN prefix. You'll need to look at the rpo code decal in the rear locking compartment for the codes W66 (formula) and WS6 to see if it is indeed a formula.

 

Also I'm pretty sure TBI was not available on 1991-92 Formulas. TPI was standard IIRC. Looks like a base Firebird with W68 Appearance Package to me.

Titles are rarely correct as far as F-Body models. My '02 WS6 T/A title says "Formula" too.

Titles, and insurance documents go by the VIN number, when you've got a VIN that doesn't differentiate model, they tend to use the shotgun approach.

To add even further to the confusion, you can have a TBI Firebird without ground effects that's just a Firebird, and you can have a TBI Formula, and the only difference between them could be the wheels, spoiler, hood, and whether or not the car has "Firebird" emblems on the fenders.

The L03 was the base Formula engine from 88-92. Just couldn't get the L03 in a Z28, Trans Am or GTA in 91-92.

 

Thanks for the info. Im learning a lot about this 92 FIREBIRD on this site. Where on the vehicle can I find a code or number to verify. I looked in the rear compartment and there's all kinds of numbers on it like 64c. Thanks again. Regardless of what model it is ILOVE MY BIRD. I'm going to do all I can to restore her.
