84 Camaro Parts in an 89 Camaro RS?

A friend of mine has had an 84 Camaro V6 sitting in his driveway for like 2 years (it's her brother's). He said if I get it out of his yard...I can have it for FREE.

With anything in this car actually work in my 89 RS? The motor does run...but it has a blown tranny.

Is it worth my time to take it..grab the parts I need and sell the rest? What do you guys think?

everything SHOULD match up from the 84 to the 89. If i were u, i would defiently take the 84 for a parts car. u could make some money from selling the parts u dont use on ebay (at least thats what i would do). if u do decide to take the 84, i would be instered in the dash top if its in good shape. with the car sitting out in the sun of 2 yrs straight i doubt that it is tho.

fyi: i paid $500 for a used '85 2.8 mpfi engine last month. at least thats what it was susposte to be.

Yeah, if you have the room, take it. The engine and stuff won't do you much good, since your car is fuel injected and the '84 is carbed. Mainly body (except bumpers) and plastic interior parts should be somewhat the same. Part the car out, and sell the parts on eBay.

Hmm....sounds like it might be worth my while to snag it up then. It's a dark blue color...and I guess the guy used to race this thing....so there *might* be some performance parts on it.

Parting it out might be fun....hehehe I can rip the thing into a million pieces and not worry too much about breaking things...good practice for tearing down the 89 if I ever need to I guess.

No problem. I'll probably start a topic here or in classifieds (if they ever come back up) about parts needed. I only need some small stuff....so I may part out the rest....of just sell the whole thing as a parts car. Who knows ;-)

I still have to get the darn thing towed here...and find a place for it.
