Windshield molding
Anyone have any tips on removing windshield molding. Car going to paint an I want to replace instead of taping it up. Hop it can be removed without damaging windshield. Tried removing with picks but it seems very brittle.
Re: Windshield molding
It just pushes in. It's a T shape with ridges to grab the windshield and frame. Other than tension, the only thing that holds it in is if the window urethane squeezed out from under the glass.
Chances are pretty good that if you get it out, you won't want to reinstall it. It'll be hard, and warped, and generally not in any condition to go back on a car. Windshield installers generally will replace the strip with a new piece that's a bit larger than stock.
