Hood Struts for use w/ fiberglass hood?

Anyone know where to find the hood struts to use w/ a fiberglass hood? I need this for my '88 Camaro.

Thanks

You should be able to get some at auto zone. If not, just get some worn out ones.

Unless you have some really cheap or lightweight hood you can use stock hood shocks. I have two Fiberglass hoods and know others w/ Fiberglass hoods, and we all run stock shocks. Mine are both from ASCD, so I can't really say about any other company, but my ASCD SS hood has been using stock shocks for ~2 years w/ no problems.

my ascd bb stinger hood is fiberglass and i used new struts on it (they were replaced when i had my old hood, then i switched to the new hood) and it works just fine.

FIBERGLASS HOOD STRUTS!!!!

I posted this exact topic a week ago....and i have those hood struts/supports/lifts!!!!

Thanks to somebody who directed me to a website, i tracked em down!!

OK to all of you who have those fiberglass hoods and dont want to install a prop-rod, or use a telescoping pole...go to:

http://www.auto-parts-for-less.com and do the search for 83 Camaro
hood supports....or you can do it the easy way and call
(619) 460 1311...ask for:

pt# 14045326 you'll need 2 of these....i just put em on today and i have pre-come!!! sorry for the lack of class in that statement but its the only way I could adequately describe my excitement.

the list price is about $39 on my invoive but it mentions the web price to be 30% cheaper.....just check thru the website if it matters.
These are considerably smaller than any other hood support you've ever seen and they work perfectly, after the hood is a foot from the latch the struts start to aid push it up....no concerns about it falling, works like a champ!...i have one of the fiberglass hoods that already has the prongs/rods that stick from the hood-hinge that the struts go on..i only need to fashion a pin/retainer for it (do not buy the retainers that are on that site as they didnt fit the hoodsupports...im referring to #14036396

any Q's? grab my attention

Yeah, why do most autopart stores list the part # for the 83 "fiberglass" hood struts and same as the normal metal ones?
