after i totalled my 88 SC i decided to buy a trans-am; i paid $1200 for an 87 T/A with about 80K miles on it. it has the LG4 (carbed 305) and an auto tranny. the body is straight as an arrrow and the interior is immaculate. the paint leaves a little something to be desired, but is in very condition for being 15 yrs. old. hope this helps.

peace,

Spindr130.....if you wouldnt mind putting a little work into one then I may have a car for you. I am located in NORTH BABYLON...probably about 5-10 minutes from you. I live on off of Hubbards path(Waldbaums is at the corner of this road) It is an '83 TA red/automatic/t-tops. I just started to redo the interior black...since the last owner redid the headliner black himself. I replaced all the gray plastic interior panels with black ones from a '91 Trans am. I put black seatcovers on the front seats...and the backs need one too....no rips on the back seat just a little dirty. It has the 16" black GTA rims. The car by all means doesnt look like an '83 (short gfx w/grills on front)...instead the previous owner put the front end, gfx, and rear hatch w/black rubber spoiler on the car...so it looks like an '86-'90 Trans am. It also has the functional powerbulge hood on it(only made for the '82-'84 TA's...the later ones for the formulas were not functional). I was told by the previous owner that the engine wasnt stock(305 LG4)...and that he dropped in a 350. It is a carbed engine with a holley carb and an edelbrock intake. It has power windows, power seats, overhead console, and a leather t-top bag(that I recently bought). The t-tops leak slightly....only during downpours...but I recently bought the GM replacement stripping. It has tail lights from an '89 GTA with the red bird in the center. The car needs a tune up. Also the headlight motors need to be replaced($70 from the junk yards on LI Ave. in Deer Park). The heat needs to be fixed...it did work, but there was some problem I think electrically...it isnt the motor itself. Also the right break light doesnt work...I am not too sure why. Let me know if you are interested. I was originally looking for about $1600/negot. Give me a call at 631-587-1398.

My '92 Trans Am was priced right at $5K, and after trading a 180,000 mile Jimmy on it, I'm in for $3500.

i think it depends on where u live and what model it is

ive seen a fair blue 88-90 rs with 5sp go 4 1500,(i shouolda got it,DAMN)

most formulas seem to go 1500 over what there worth just becuase its has the sticker on the side and i guess people think its meanss its sooo great even if it has factory tbi and drum brakes ,2.73 peg leg rear and no 1/LE package.

the same i guess would go 4 the irocs and z/28

i think the deal r the fbirebirds with 305 and g effects and the rs with 305,they seem to go 4 less because the dont have the "fast"
badges

hopefully everybody will start to luv driving econo box imports and they will come way down

Actually, in my perfect world, the value would depreciate to the point at which I could pick up a mint late generation GTA for a few hundred bucks, then immediately skyrocket into the low to mid five figure range, to stay there until immediately after I decide to sell. We can dream, right?
