Hatch pull-down assembly

Simply put, my rear hatch doesn't pull down. I took the panels off to examine, figuring a faulty motor, and I found that not only is the motor missing but it looks like the section that it bolts on to has been broken off. So even if I had a motor, there is no way to mount it to the unit. The whole housing appears to be some kind of hard plastic.

I'm going to have to replace the entire thing by the looks of it. Briefly looking around, the unit, with a motor, goes for around $200 in used condition. Does this seem right for the part? Sounds crazy to me, but I am very new to these cars and am aware that some parts are kinda hard to come by. Or maybe someone offers a reproduction of this part?

Re: Hatch pull-down assembly

Late 1991-92 has a completely different design than the earlier ones, so make sure you get one of those, and not an earlier one. No one is currently reproducing an entire pull-down motor for any third gen, although they make a lot of reproduction parts for the earlier style. The later style motors are apparently a lot more reliable, which is good since about the only part you can get for them is the nylon nut that always breaks.

In short, you will need to buy an entire used late 1991-92 assembly.
