I have the 86 Firebird headlight motors with the three relays that control it. I also have a spare headlight motor setup with 92 motors and 92 headlight module. I think I can get aftermarket gears for either and the price is prettty close. My preference is the 3 relay setup if I can someday swap those out with aftermarket common relays. Seems like the headlight module is more costly. So, is one better than the other or does it matter? Are the internals of one type of motor designed better than the other?

2. 82-86 headlight motors with 1990-2002 headlight module
3. 87-92 Headlight motors with 3 relays
4. 87-92 headlight motors with 1990-2002 headlight module
5. Any as long as they have the aftermarket kit w/ bushings and gears
6. Any as long as they function

 

On my 84 i actually found a vendor that produced the isolation relay brand new. For the most part they are very reliable. The later style 2 wire motors are just as good too in their own way. Very easy to maintain.
