Tire size 215/65 R 15 - looking for us title
Hi !
My car : 1987 Pontiac Firebird, VIN: 1G2FS21H0HL....
Swapped to new tires on the 15" turbo cast rims. Now I have 215/65 R 15 tires.
But the german technical inspection office has a little poblem with this tire size because I have no official certificate. Tires marked in my geman car title are 245/50 HR 16 and 235/60 HR 15.
Is here someone who has a 1987 Firebird (best with same beginning of the VIN above) with the tire size 215/65 R 15 marked in the us title or wherever ?
Could you please eMail me a copy of it ? Or a copy of an official GM/Pontiac datasheet or invoice including this tire size ?
Regs

EDIT : Ooops, there is a special thread for wheels and tires. Sorry, please beam it for me to this thread ! Thx !

I don't think titles in the united states have tire size information on them, at least none of the states I have lived in do.
Hopefully someone has a scan of a data sheet that can help you out.

A datasheet would be nice !
@ Drew : I have no decals at all on my car because the bird has been repainted long time ago. So the stickers has gone to nirvana...

Looks like a standard VIN, same as North America. My guess is their cross reference book for a VIN H Firebird (305 V8) offers known tires sizes in '87, but may be missing P215/65/R15. I think an '87 Z28 would have had P215 available, with P235 as an option, and IROC optioned cars had P245.
Your Firebird with Trans Am option may have had available P235, and GTA optioned P245.
Point is, their book may be missing a size.
And finally, I could be wrong on all accounts because by '87 perhaps they did not offer the P215 on a Firebird. And/or, imported cars did not get 215.
No answer in my post, but clues from which to research. I say find a Web copy of the '87 sales brochure to start. Follow that with ordering the GM Vehicle Information Kit for $50 'merican.
Nice car BTW.
