Fog lights

Hello thridgen-fans,

I am currently trying to find a solution for my broken fog light. In fact, it is just the clear plastic front cover, I guess you could call it lense.
I know that rockauto sells complete fog light sets. When I enter the specs of my 1988 Trans Am GTA, it finds a product (https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/pontiac,1988,firebird,5.7l+350cid+v8,1251481,body,fog+/+driving+lamp+assembly).
The problem is, my mechanic keeps telling me that these lamps would not fit my car, since they are rectangular shaped, while my car has trapezoid shaped ones. He therefore recommended a set on ebay (https://www.ebay.de/itm/Nebelscheinw...sAAOSwHDdcgqnh, sorry that it is German), which first of all, from my point of view, is ridiculously overpriced. Secondly, I am not even sure that they would fit on my TA.

Could you please help me out here and give me some advise. Maybe someone knows which model would fit or has another idea.

Only reason for me to repair the cover is actually to get a classic car license (Germany), which would reduce taxes to 1/3 annually. But for that it needs to be replaced.

Thanks a lot!
Many thanks

Christoph

Re: Fog lights

One thing I forgot to mention:
My mechanic also said that the mounting is different and that the ones from rockauto would not fit for that reason as well.
Not sure what to think about that...

Re: Fog lights

Fog lights on all thirdgens had always glass lenses, no plastic ones... and 88 model cars have rectangular fog lights, only 91/92 cars had the other "trapezoid" style... Can you show a pic of your car and your problem?

Re: Fog lights

I didn't know about the matierial, so thanks for that.
But I was also relatively certain that the shape changed with the 91 and 92 models. That's why I am pretty sure that the ones on ebay are in fact 91/92 models. What do you think?

I was on vacation and the car is at the mechanic's, so I don't have picture available at the moment. I'll try to get one asap.

Do you know if the attachement of the 90 and earlier fog light model is actually different than the 91/92?

Funny J.C. Denton, have you checked our locations?

Re: Fog lights

Yup, I did. Shoot me a PM in german, maybe easier for us and I can show you some pics for comparison. Writing in german here is a bit unfair for the rest of the community here.
