Replacing 91-92 Rear Iroc Spoiler with 82-90 Version

Ladies and Gents: I'm personally not a fan of the late Third Gen Camaro rear spoiler, but I like the one used on earlier Third gen cars. Is it possible to replace the latter with the former, without re-inventing the wheel? Thanks for your help!

Buy what you want to begin with. No reason to mutilate a car because you want it to be something it's not.

Thanks. I try not to modify a car in a way that it cannot be returned to stock. And if this involves too much work, I won't do it! Thanks again for the response.

If you have a "high rise" spoiler the only mounting points are on the hatch itself. Either type of the 'duck-tail' 3 piece rear spoilers will require additional holes to be drilled in the body/rear quarter so that the LEFT and RIGHT sides of the 3-piece spoiler can be mounted.

Not only that, if it is the 91-92 high rise you currently have, there will be 4 holes in the deck lid the 3-piece spoiler won't cover so you'll have to deal with those being visable or having a body shop fill, prime and paint....

Is this the spoiler you have?

Iroc-z only went from 1985-1990.

It’s just a spoiler, find a 90 and back car with the 3 piece spoiler and grab the deck lid too. You’ll have to drill holes for the side pieces. I too am not a fan of the 91-92 z28 spoiler, but if I had a 91-92 z28 I think I could live with it. It’s your car do what you want.

A 1990 and back spoiler will add a 4th rear brake light to a 1991-1992 car though. If the 3 piece is what they want, the 91-92 RS is the one to get.

I have a nice one off of a 92 RS I'd like to sell.

edit: pre 86 probably doesn't have a third brake light either.

Re: Replacing 91-92 Rear Iroc Spoiler with 82-90 Version

A 91-92 Z28 with a 3pc low profile spoiler isn't a 91-92 Z28 anymore, it's an RS. The only cosmetic difference between a 91-92 RS and 91-92 Z28 is the spoiler and hood. Ditch the spoiler and all that's left is the hood. Most people like the spoiler better than the 91-92 Z hood blisters. There are a TON more Camaros with the cheddar wedge spoiler, there's no way in hell I'd put the basic bitch spoiler on a Z28, even if it didn't require filling/drilling holes and paint.
