Need help with power mirror switch.
I'm putting in the 4th gen console and was going to flip the controls from top-bottom to left-right on the mirror switch. I figured it'd be pretty easy...just swap the wires on the back.
I found out which is power...it's the orange.
The black...it's the ground.
The other 6 I'm not so sure.
There's a blue that has power when you hit left or right. There's a yellow that has power when you hit up. And the 4 at the bottom each have their own direction.
Here's my problem...I have no wiring diagram and am going on luck/instinct/guesswork. I swapped the orange and blue not knowing what I was doing (before I got the Voltometer) and nothing worked. I swapped them back and now the right doesn't work. Everything else is fine. And now the wires at the bottom that I think are all supposed to have their own direction...the one that is supposed to control right also has power to the left.
I smelled kind of a burnt plastic/electonic something smell when I swapped the orange and blue...could I have ruined the switch? Does anyone have a wiring diagram (I've looked in Chilton & Haynes and they both don't have the automatic mirrors in the diagrams)? Has anyone done the swap before? Or maybe had a broken switch that they fixed?
Thanks to all who help and sorry it's kind of confusing. I just want my mirrors to work.

Thanks a ton Snap Draggin...but I don't need it anymore. It's nice to know that there are still those out there (and a newbie at that) that are willing to contribute. I thought that Zepher might have had something to add...seeing as how he used the 4th gen piece to control his mirrors. But on to better business.
I figured it out! Yeah yeah I broke the switch (it costs 38.50 to replace
) But it can be done. I now have the switch ready to be mounted horizontal instead of vertical. If anybody actually reads this...it's the perfect thing to fill the cubby hole in the 97+ console. This is going to be the cleanest install job I've ever done.... lol.
If anybody wants to know which wires to switch...do it your D@&n self....
See how you like spending 38.50 when you screw it up.
j/k...
... If anybody wants some more information, just ask me and I'll be glad to be of service.
