Hi All:

What is the best brand of Windshield for a Thirdgen1985 Trans Am that comes Closest to GM OEM Windshields ? There appears to be many choices in the Aftermarket\Auto glass shops around and prices vary. I have heard that the cheaper Windshields are thinner glass.

Any recommendation to buy online or a Shop/Chain in Northern New Jersey would be greatly appreciated

 

I was unaware that there were choices when getting a windshield. I just had my 84 replaced down in central NJ and it was just a flat 220 installed plus tax. I got the same number from multiple shops.

No matter what brand as all should be SAE/DOT certified anyway.

 

I worked in a glass shop 15 years ago. The only difference between glass was some of the chinese glass made it through quality control with minor defects. The biggest defect was distortion of the glass when viewed through seating level. Now I think most glass is made off shore. A decent shop will inspect every piece of glass before install and reject and defects. So now a days it pretty much doesn't matter what brand of glass you get.
