Wipers rubbing on cowl hood
As the title says, my wiper arms are rubbing on the back side of my 2 inch glasteck cowl hood. I have ground the back side of the front bumper so the hood is as far forward as it can reasonably be, the slope of the hood line matches perfectly with the slope of the bumper. My wiper arms sit reasonably low and I don't believe there is much to be gained in attempting to lower the arms themselves or purchasing lower wipers. It sure looks like I need to grind the back of the hood, and along an area from just before the hood levels our on the corner of the rise on the passengers side to as far as the passengers wiper arm reaches. The drivers side makes no contact. With as big of an area as I'm having an issue with, someone else has surely had to deal with this and it must just be me having a particular dense moment so.. before I destroy a 600 dollar hood, what as anybody else done to have wipers work well on a cowl hood.
I really like the hood other than this it looks and fits well. In a really kind of weird glass half full kind of moment, the bad drought in the western US is keeping me from needing wipers right now. Thanks for any suggestions even if you suggest one of my previously discarded ideas might work.

Hi clubber. A photo might help. But mostly what I would be curious to see is what wiper refill you have on the arm.
When I purchased my car, it had O.E. or O.E. style blades, and clearance was good to adequate. Not knowing how old they were, I immediately with some modern parts store replacement which were A) ugly, and B) too damn tall and hit the back of the hood, or came too close to it for comfort. So I went back to an O.E. style.
If you have some thicker modern replacements, I'd start with some of the original design.
If not, I have no suggestions beyond modifying the hood.

Pics??
The wiper arms themselves sit extremely low towards the glass / almost touching compared to any other wiper arm out there....
maybe you need standard old skool style Wiper blades? thoose are super thing compared to al lthese new ugly things...
you COULD aslo maybe adjust the wipers so they sit higher... kinda like the passenger one wil lsit a bit above the hood line.... Ive seen this on regular F bodies... probably because they were not installed correctly on the pins. / whatever those things are called.....

He should be able to move the arm on the spline, but it will change the rotation and timing of the arm a bit. It can take some trial and error so the wipers do not hit eachother as they reach the apex of the arc, but it's not difficult.

Guys, upon further inspection, the wiper arms appear to have quite a bit of bow in them. I am attempting to bend them somewhat flatter now. I am also attempting to learn how to upload I phone pictures to the forum. I will update when either area has something significant to offer.

Problem solved. My wiper arms have quite a bit of bow in them. Bending them flatter solved the problem and they easily clear now. Thanks for helping on this, I didn't think cutting on the hood was a good idea at all. I will still post the pics if I figure out how including the post repair pics.

Re: Wipers rubbing on cowl hood
On my 84 with stock hood the wiper arm near the knuckle would hit my hood edge.
I replaced both wiper arms with new OE arms.
I assume that the tension spring in the wiper arm is getting stretched because of old age.
