Are lock cylinders interchangeable?
My driver's door lock cylinder is worn out and won't turn half the time, locksmith wants $200 to key a new cylinder, so I'm wondering if I can just swap a cylinder from one of my t-tops. I'm pretty sure the doors are interchangeable, but can I swap a lock cylinder from a t-top to a door?

I think you'd have to completely disassemble the cylinder in order to swap out the "back" part, if that makes sense.
$200 seems excessive for a re-key.
Probably easier to just swap out the entire lock with a new one, you can get them with keys for not much $$.

Yeah I get what you mean as far as disassembling -- so, basically only a locksmith can do it.
I'd buy a kit if they came with the right number of cylinders -- my car has 6 lock cylinders (all of which match), but the kits only come with 2 or 3, and I really don't want to have to carry around 3 keys for this car.

There should be a clip on the back that can come off...I believe that is side specific. You might have to turn the opposite way if anything to lock / open though...
OR............. you can just get new door lock cylinders which are way cheaper....I mean... these cars already use 2- different keys....

Ended up just going to keyless entry...lock cylinder still turns most of the time, if I need it to. Won't be using it much any more at this point though!
