New rubbers fitted doors wont close
I bought new rubbers for doors and t/tops complete sets, doors wont close. bought sofseal brand to see if they were better as the first set was a bit crap. still doors wont close, every panel on the car is perfectly alligned and no more adjustments!.
can these rubbers be heated up with a heat gun then doors closed and left overnight.
bought the paint shop guy to see the car he painted and he said they are allways tight until they settle in but this is rediculous
its BS,,i hate aftermarket junk, it never fits.

Re: New rubbers fitted doors wont close
PO installed some kind of aftermarket seal on my passenger door and it does the same thing. I got my face down in where the rubber bumps into the door, and I think it's too thick on the inside above the striker and acts like a bumpstop a little too early for the second latch on the door to catch. I was thinking about taking it off and shaving down the inside to free up a little room, but I haven't done it yet.

I'm not aware of any method to accelerate the seals setting to their new shape. Time is the only method I know of. I'm sure summer heat helps Vs installing them in winter.
I was just going to make a geography crack about you already enjoying warm temps in your part of the world, but I see your current temps are about like ours here in Michigan!
From what I have read here on the forum over the years, the Fairchild brand seems to have the best reputation for fit, and not being over sized. But that ship has already sailed in your case. I think you'll just have to be patient.

I actually bought fairchild brand from ecklers, some of the holes didnt line up where the blue plugs go into hold the door rubbers in place and the rubber was more like soft plastic, bought another set from America sofseal brand they look better quality, put them on they will need WD40 on the surfaces and slam the door and let it sit a few days,
winter here is down to 40f at night and 70f in the day.
summer here is 90 to 115f day and night, some days 120f.
thanks for the replys, AND i could check out the tire softener used on slicks but i better see if it doesnt rip the paint off or poison the dog or cat. if they sniff it.

I'm skeptical that heat alone will suffice. I have no idea how long the seals have been on my car, but it's been at least 1.5 years including last summer's 115f+ week long heat wave, and it didn't change the properties of my seal at all.
