Interesting information. My daughters 88 Formula had a broken motor for the trunk. Inclusive of the gear. No worries. I bought a new housing and a gear. Installed it correctly and discovered the gear was being stripped. Holy smokes....So I buy another gear and so it does travel as needed before the door test. However, when the door was in situation, it went dwon about 95% of hte way and stopped. THere was the dreaded stripping of the gears as the motor was chruning against them. Crap....... This was after the second gear. SO I said screw it and bought an entire assembly with the integrated motor. After comparing the two, there was so much play in the original one that it was the reason for the stripping. Even though they were new parts. Food for thought on the next time around.
