No, but you need to make sure you get adhesive all the way along, no gaps. Also while you have your weatherstripping out, check very carefully for any pinholes in your sheetmetal. If you find any, get them welded up first, and then paint the channel with POR15 or something. Got mine from the dealer in '99

A local guy changed his T-top weatherstriping and he said that it leaks more now than it did before. Is this true, or did he just not seal it correctly? I planned on getting new weatherstriping on my Firebird when I get it painted, but if the leaking will only get worse, than I may change my mind. Thanks.

He either didn't install the weatherstripping correctly, or else his tops need re-adjusted. You should re-adjust them afterwards anyway. Mine don't leak a drop.

Mine don't leak either. But If I remember right it takes about 4 of those tubes of sealer to do the job. And you have to move rather quickly. The instructions that came with mine said to fill both the inner and outer chanels with sealer. Better put some masking tape on the painted surfaces, the sealer will squish out, and could get on the paint.

mine leaked, until I filled the center strip with Silicone, now I can drive thru a lake and it would not leak... not a drop.

Actually the replacement t-top seals are FAR superior to the originals... in my opinion

I bought a whole kit from Classic Industires. It also fixes the rippley rubber on your T-tops, looks mucho better...

Hey, is the "rippley rubber" the strip that goes on the t-top itself where the top of the window hits? thanks tom

Its the one on the t-top that covers the one that the window hits.
