Hood supports

1992 heritage edition, hood supports have to be one of the poorest designed items on these cars. I’ve gone through 6 sets and they never last more than a year. Either the hood is too long and heavy or the supports are too weak. I’m thinking about installing a prop rod and be done with it.

Re: Hood supports

Yeah, but the prop rod just looks cheap. ....I buy a set of Strongarm brand supports, keep the receipt, and return them after a year or two. I agree that you don't typically get more time. ...but then you get a free set under warranty and get another year or two. $50 bucks and 10 minutes every few years isn't a big deal to me at all and I've been doing that since 1992!

I think I've had the same set for 10 years. Same strategy, Auto store with lifetime free replacement. Exchange for free whenever you want

And we all have that special stick in our garage.
