Sounds deadening mat under car?
I'm currently putting sound deadening mat all throughout my son's 4th gen. I plan on doing the same to Whitejacket. Could I get away with sticking it to the underside of the cars? I know they make a paint to protect against rust. I was wondering if I could use sound deadening mat to protect and help with noise?

That is a bad idea d say... lots of moisture gonna get caught between the mat and bottom of the floor boards and create rust

A few swatches of vibration mat combined with a true sound deadener go a long way. Do not put it on the bottom of your can unless you want rust and fire.

considering most if not all sound deadening mats are designed to be used in a dry environment I would forsee and issue with moisture collecting under the mat. There is heat protective films on the market people have used this on the underside to prevent heat transfer from exhaust and I'm sure they would provide a certian level of sound deadening but you may run into the same issue with moisture as the actual sound deadening material.

Just use some good quality under coating. Any type of mat is going to produce rust. Use some heat shield or exhaust wrap if a big concern. Sweating while driving a hot rod is all part of the experience! If too loud, just upgrade the stereo.
