My old one had 15 tears/rips/holes in it and i found a fairly new one in the boneyard. i put it one and have triplechecked my work and it is sealed all the way around with my black silicone weatherstriping adhesive, have any ideas?

I have the same problem w/ my 84 T/A. I replaced the stripping with new SoftSeal weather stripping and had no difference. My trunk still leaks. The water enters at the rear pass. side of the hatch. I think it enters under the piece that connects the glass to the metal panel (its about 2"x5"i think). The water goes between the weather striping and this piece. Sometimes it leaks, sometimes it does not.
If anyone has a solution it would be helpful

I had one that leaked, I just made sure I put alot of silicone on there to keep it from leaking.
You might consider pealing back the carpet, if it is wet under the carpet, then it could keep seeping through.

When I repalced my stripping I still had a leak. Discovered that the water was coming in at the point where the glass curves on the side. A used a garden hose to get lots of water on the glass and from the inside I could see the water flowing over the top of the stripping between the glass. I used the wide weather strip (for your doors around the house) on the hatch glass at the point that it leaked.
mine leaked in where the glass meets the painted trunk piece what ever you wanna call it but i jus layed a line of tape on each side that it meets and filled the crack w/the urathan you use to put in winddows with no i have no more leeks
also i had some leaks from the spoiler i used some stuff called "dum dum" that we have at the shot and put around the spoiler bolts befor i put the spoiler on and that stoped the rest of my leaks
