I'm preparing to install the hood on my Trans Am build (just want to get the windshield installed first). I have a UMI #2009 LS strut tower brace and their website says "Firebird models will require trimming of underhood bracing". Has anyone installed this brace on a Firebird to know what trimming is required? Any input or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

You have a lot more hood clearance now with that LS engine. I would make a custom brace if I were you, no need to be cutting hoods.

Between you and me we've had almost every brace on the market and they don't fit Firebirds.

 

I really don’t want to cut my hood. Since they say “trimming” I’m curious to know how much. If it’s minimal I *may* consider it.

 

Thats a helpful bit of info there, not to hijack battmans thread but is there another that goes into a bit more depth on bracing for Firebirds?

 

It's too bad Kenny Brown closed shop, back in the day they had some 3rd gen suspension offerings, a strut tower brace that fit under a 'Bird hood perfectly too. Almost surprising no company came out with a version based off it.
