Re: strut tower brace
I'm partial to the BMR STBs. I know they clear the TPI plenum and I like the aesthetics of it because it frames the plenum nicely as well.

Re: strut tower brace
OP has a base model Firebird. Base model Firebird hood has the least clearance of all the styles. I can tell you from my own experience,
* BMR won't fit
* Heidts 3 point TBI won't fit
* Heidts 3 point TPI wont' fit
* Kenny Brown won't fit
My own opinion is that if it is made for TPI then it won't fit.

Re: strut tower brace
Aside from the faux hood vents, I didn't think there was any difference underneath between the T/A hoods and the base birds.

Re: strut tower brace
Not common knowledge. That's why I took time to help.
I mean really, when was the last time you saw a tricked out base model Firebird? Not many people would do that.

Re: strut tower brace
Ya, I've heard the QA1 fits and that is what you have. I was only trying "fixed" bars and not the style with hinges like the QA1. I haven't found a fixed style yet that fits.

Re: strut tower brace
Did you contact DSE to see if their new line will fit? They might have some insight since it was just released.

Re: strut tower brace
The two bolts on each strut act as a pivot. So it can rotate about that joint. So it's not truly fixed. If one strut side goes up the other side doesnt arrest it fully. It's not constrained in every axis.

Re: strut tower brace
See the thing is a TPI never went in a car with a base model Firebird hood. It's not a combination that has to be considered. My LS engine sits much lower than the TPI and I could easily have a strut tower brace made to fit if I want.
