Rear hatch struts

I recently purchased a 1985 Z28. The rear hatch has new gas struts on it. When you hit the interior release button it wants to rip the hatch off the car from the high pressure of the strut. It also is very difficult to close. I cannot find a name on the struts but the numbers on it are 4900P 34420 T-A. Are they supposed to be that high pressure? If not does anyone have a part number or place to buy the correct struts?

Re: Rear hatch struts

There's different supports depending on how the hatch is configured (read: weight).
