Lower door pin bushing walked up pin

I replaced the upper and lower hinge pins on my car about tens years ago with a kit that added greasable pins on the upper hinge to remove the rivets. Around this time last year I noticed the door was sagging more and found the lower bushing in the lower door hinge had worked its way up on the hinge pin. Using punches and screwdrivers I was able to get the bushing about halfway into the hinge before giving up. A year later and I have the same problem again: Sagging door, lower bushing walked up, can only beat it back in halfway with a screwdriver/punch.

Is there someway I can press this bushing back in without having to go through the entire pin replacement process?

I see TDS has the pins and some tools but they don't seem to help in my case:

I would try and take the lower pin out, and use an offset punch to drive the bushing back in properly. Then reinstall the pin.

Re: Lower door pin bushing walked up pin

The lower bushing was installed upside down. The flange portion should be facing down holding the bushing captive.
The hole size on your car looks excessive so it isn't pressed in, it's just kinda held together with unicorn dreams.

Put a floor jack under the rear of the door and pull the pin, flip the lower bushing & reassemble- done.
If there's not enough room for the bushing flange, spread the door side hinge a tiny bit.

The door is heavy and will be wobbly when the lower pin is removed, might want another person to steady it. Watch those fingers!!

Bushings correctly installed.

Re: Lower door pin bushing walked up pin

Thanks Knightfire! That makes sense why it walked up the pin now. I'm sure the passenger side will be the same story. I'll have to work on fixing this next weekend. I appreciate the help.
