Re: Low rise headlights for firebird
This is the website for the guy who created the C5 low-rise headlights, and he also has a lot of videos on YT:
KnightDriveTV Youtube Channel Corvette Merchandise and Apparel
He's currently working on a 4thgen kit and has stated an interest in creating a kit for 3rdgens. But, apparently, he recently tried to open a discussion about a kit for 3rdgens on another website and was surprised to have been met with a lot of resistance. But that's because, you know, everyone's 3rdgen will be worth millions of dollars someday, so such a modification would be sacrilegious.
He's also said in one of his videos that headlights weren't supposed to become his "job," yet they've sort of taken over his life, which he wasn't prepared for, so he's really busy, and new projects are happening very slowly, so I wouldn't expect to see a kit for 3rdgens for a couple more years, if ever. On the plus side, it sounds like creating a kit for 3rdgens is one of his own personal interests, so it might help if he gets some positive feedback.

There is also Bravetech who has previously made pop-up delete headlights. Similar to the C5 guy he has lots of other projects active and doesn't currently have anything available. Supposedly working on the next version. https://bravetech.ca/product-categor...1992-firebird/

Not to rain on your Prade but pop ups head lights are cool and fun it's what made Firebird unique to Camero, and especially the spinning C4 corvettes were extra wild

there was a guy on here they made them pop up a different way, like they opened from the side. Jonny 5 looking.
also not as far. it was a cool project if you can find the thread.
I have a buddy that wants his sleepy eye kit for his c5. (I kinda want the max din for the c6 if he can make it work) I am curious about the quality. I do like popups but 3rd Gen ones are a bit high, the lt1 4th gens were horrible looking up from the inside looking out. I did like the c4 ones a lot.
I would definitely consider a sleepy eye kit for my formula if he released one and it was good quality.. I don't think it would be horrible to make in these days of good 3d printing at home and small led projectors. I've got some 2.5in bi-led ebay ones I stuck in my yukon for fog lights and they are crazy good for ebay stuff.
shorten or offset the arm from the motor to the light so it doesn't open all the way, than 3d print something to hold a nice bi-led projector and I think you'd have a really night upgraded light that doesn't take away anything from the "originality" crowd. Just looks a little cleaner it night.

Consider the beam pattern when thinking about lights. Most LED's are simply floodlights and don't have correct beam pattern for use as a headlight.
Re: Low rise headlights for firebird
unless you're throwing a ebay led or hid bulb a old plastic housing, this isn't really an issue anymore and since 3rd gens came with glass bulbs you can't do that.
