Damn GM. Removing power window motors involves drilling

Cheap bastards at GM in the 80's requires to drill out rivets that hold the motors to the inner door frame.

Could have used bolts like in the C4 vettes but nope.

Gotta hate I also need to drill a hole in inner door frame place a screw and nut to hold up the window assembly in place without chopping my fingers off.

Anyone have a way to remove without drilling holes?

Manny

Look at the bright side. When you install the new motors, you can use bolts...

When I did my motors I used a set of glass suction cups to hold the windows up. You can also use suction cup handles. I drilled the old rivets and used new rivets for the motors. I think the rivet thing is lame but the original motors made it 35 yrs. I'll worry about drilling them another 35 yrs (hopefully) the bigger issue was getting the mechanisms in and out of the door. What a PIMA.

True but I am all about originality. Plus there will be 1 extra hole to hold the window assembly in place.
