I recently scored a 1982 MSE T/A spoiler of a DKM Motor Sports Edition Trans Am that was butchered into a 4x4 car used in some Mad Max thing here in Australia. I got the badges, some paperwork, and the spoiler off the car, but the car is still sitting on a 4x4 Land Rover chassis
I think the 82-84 MSE spoilers have a really unique look, and the original rubber/polyurethane spoiler on my 1987 GTA is pretty cracked and was probably going to come off for a repaint. I also scored a NOS 1992 SLP Firehawk dual air intake for the TPI, so I was thinking this could be a great opportunity to make some basic, but somewhat respectable mods to my GTA.
I've only just noticed however, that the MSE (and the 82-84 T/A's for that matter) only have two posts on the spoiler, while the GTA (or the 85-90 Aero style spoilers in general) has the brake light section in the middle.
Can this early spoiler still adapt to a later model?
The third brake light is a standalone unit that mounts to the rear wing and the deck lid.
Those wings can go without the light, but they may have an indentation where the light sits.
But you wouldn't be able to add the light to a "light-less" style spoiler without modification.
That's fine, I wasn't planning on putting another light on. But aren't there bolt holes in the deck or something for the section where the light is? Would they not just be left open?
