Water leak driver side firewall
Hello,
I wondered about water getting under the carpet on the driver side footwell.
So I ripped the carpet and insulation out and found a rusted hole where the water getting inside an inch under the grommet from the hood release cable.
Inside the engine bay you see seam sealer in that area where wheelhouse firewall/cowl and fendersupport coming together and over 30 years later the water found its way under the sealer. It was all brittle and started to rust.
If it rains the water getting through the hood and fender gap directly in that spot.
So I have to make some new sheet metal and want to ask if anybody did that work before and is it usefull making a hole directly in the corner so the water can drain behind the inner plastic wheelhouse cover .
Thank you
