Stripped HOOD Threads

Went to adjust my TA hood the other day while a guy i know was over and noticed the pass side both hinge to hood bolts are stripped. One pretty bad(rear) and other is kinda snug(front). Got the hood adjusted good enough for now But that side deff doesn't close as nice and my bet is because of the rear really stripped bolt.

Does the hood use bodynuts?

I got a scrap firebird with a bad hood, so if they are body nut i could steal them but not had a chance to mess with it and it closes good now. This is the same car/hood that had a carb fire and when you closed it the rear drivers corner hit the fender. My bet is they took the hood off when they tried to sand it, then gave up n just slapped it back on w/o knowing it would be out of adjustment. Prob used an impact n stripped those bolts.

Figured I'd ask more bout it before i bother to take apart the scrap bird. If they are spot welded, then I'll prob remove the hood when i finally get to painting it LOL

Weld or nutsert it, I'll fix it someday

I don't know the answer to your question but putting in a heli-coil would be a lot less work.

Re: Stripped HOOD Threads

The bolts are in and just kinda spin w/o tightening down, like a nut is on them. Not sure if there will be any thread to insert a heli-coil. Prob will have to cut off the rear bolt n fish what's left out with a magnet. Still i could be wrong n it's just stripped but acting funky?

[edit] To be clear the rear bolt is like 1/4 inch loose but trapped by a nut or something that broke loose
