Watching my 1989 Camaro being pulled onto a flat bed for towing was un pleasant with the front air dam being bent up so decided to fab in a tow bar to the front end. The foundation for the design is an 034 Motorsport Stainless Steel Tow Hook, very beefy construction. I put some dimensions on paper how this tow hook would screw into a stainless base which I welded together. Found out the threads on a tow hook are unique so had a machinist cut new threads which could be tapped into the base cube for my welded assembly. Base unit was bolted to the front crash bar with 4 5/8" stainless bolts. Broke my pinky drilling one of those holes out to 5/8" after losing a grip on the drill which spun around to smack my pinky. 8 weeks later it is finally assembled. Once the front clip is mounted, the tip of the black tow assembly will stick out 1/4" in the center where the front license plate will mount.. The front plate will have a hole and rubber plug installed when not in use. If a tow is required, the plug is removed and the Tow bar is screwed in.
I've always required the car be loaded rear first, never had an issue with a tow company complying (most assume that anyway due to the long nose/overhang)
