Why Does my 91 dash look like this?
Why does my 91 dash look like this?
my trim panel (the overlay that goes on top of the gaugues and "frames" them into their half-circle shapes) seems to be oddly shaped in the upper left corner, the cutout above the speedo seems "crooked" compared to the matching cutout above the tach. Further, the black plastic outer trim (that snaps on around the gauge pod, and contains the HL switch, cig lighter, etc.) hangs "low" on the entire assembly, and lower on the left. the gauges themselves sit a little high on the left. the whole mess ends up looking like what you get in the picture. How do I go about correcting this??? I have dissasembled the entire thing and I can't see any way to adjust it. All of the alignment pins are in their corresponding holes, and everything is assembled as it was meant to be...it's just lopsided! The dash is otherwise perfect, this is a garaged car...so I don't really suspect warping.. I found where it attaches to the metal brace, but i'm afraid that adjusting the metal tabs up and down by bending them would break the plastic of the dash?? nothing looks bent or wrong??

thanks....

The dash pad is curved... when GM redesigned the dashes in 1990 on the Camaro and the Firebird each had certain problems that GM didn't take care of... The issue you have is the Camaro's problem, the Firebirds kept the round gauges so the airbag blocks the bottom half of the speedo and tach...
Its just part of the car... ie normal.

looks somewhat normal to me, maybe a little off........but you have to look hard. although, pictures are always difficult to tell what's really going on.
you should look at another one in person so you will know, that's your best bet.
