I've been checking out all the threads on consoles, etc. I think the 4th gen looks pimp, and I want to do it in my ride. I want to change to dash, console, and door covers that have the speakers from a 4th gen and put them in my 91 Camaro Convertible RS. What problems will I come across? Will the speedo and tach hook up ok, I can splice wires no problem, as long as I know which ones. The car is just sitting in the garage till mother nature sees fit to get rid of all the snow, so time is not a problem. Is there anything special I should look for when I go to the junkyard. And when I go to put the window switches in the ashtray, will I be able to fit my tonough cover swith(however you spell it) it's the part the goes up and the top goes under. I would hate to have to manually open it. It takes two people to pull the wires on both sides and it's a pain.

 

This swap is the biggest PITA you can possibly imagine. The console no problem ( that is with the 4th gen dash too ) , the dash will go in, but it will take a little modding ( some of the mounting points aren't the same ), the doorpanels are a big hassle , and the biggest problem of all is adapting the 4th gen guages to work with all of the 3rg gen components. Oh I almost forgot, I doubt 4th gen rear panels for a 'vert will fit, plus try finding some. I know I'm being general but that is because I haven't tried it. But 72BuickGSX has ( but not in a convertible ) he can probably tell specifics. Sorry to wreck your dreams, but you'd be better off enjoying your ragtop as is.

For the record, pimp means cool, awesome, radical, or anything of that nature. It's just a word that has taken on new meanings. If someone calls someone dumb, they aren't saying that the person is unable to talk. They are calling them an idiot.
