Well, my under body is just starting to rust up, I suspect it has only been through 1 or 2 other winters (I feel guilty...). Anyways, most of the bottom is nice, and painted, unrusted - IF i was to put POR-15 on there to cure the little rust sarting, and stop any new rust, would I need to strip the paint? Also, I only have 2 ramps, 2 jack stands, and 1 floor jack, how hard is this stuff to apply from the on the back position? If anyone has ANY experience, I could really use a little help. Thanks!

I've used the POR 15 on my undercarriage. If you strip to bare metal you will need to use POR's Metal Ready to etch. All you really have to do is wire brush and paint. I did all of mine laying on my back with no problems. Just follow the instructions and wear gloves. That stuff takes forever to wear off of the skin.

Wait - I thought is was the metal-ready that stopped the rust, and the POR-15 that sealed it. Are oyu saying that I could just POR-15 over it all, w/o etching???

The metal ready is for bare metal, so yes, that is what I'm saying. POR right over the rust.

I suppose this is as good of place as any to ask this. What's the best place to buy POR 15?

yup, 3 ton jackstands, up nice and high

heres what i did.....

the car had been undercoated at one time, this was starting to peel off and looked like crap so while i had the engine out i figured i'd do everything i could.

scraped off all the undercoating by hand, used paint thinner to remover the little bit left over.

pressure washed off whatever else was there
then used metal ready on the entire underside before painting
im not sure if this was required but i did it anyway

all of this was done with the car on 3 ton jackstands, nice and high off the ground.

Now i have about 2 or 3 pairs of workpants that have black all over them....i seemed to end up with just as much on me as on the car.

I'd definetly do it though, the finished results are well worth the effort, it looks soo much better

any more question, feel free to ask

Well, I got 2 'regular' jack stands, and 2 ramps. I will have tranny and all that stuff in, and would prolly be doing it will a brush. Thats kinda irrelivant, but what I dont see, is wouldnt the metal-ready, kinda just drip/run off? I dunno, its prolly not all to complicated!

the metal ready was sprayed on and did its work from there

you may want to raise the ramps up abit to get more room under there.

my tranny and engine were out, so it was basic for me, paint everything, i did use a brush though, seemed to work fine.

i also did the front wheel whells, took out the plastic pieces, cleaned it up and painted

sounds like, while simple, I really just need to have enough time, no?

ya, its just more or less the time involved.

If you dont have any undercoating it shouldnt take too long
