shifter boot repair

is there a tech artical on this? I am doing mine and I took some pics just thinking if no one did this yet I would write one up.

There's a guy on ebay selling them dirt cheap. I just put one into my GTA and it looks great.

But, after looking at it, if you can use a sewing machine, you can make one in 10 minutes. Just take the stock one, turn it inside out, trace it, cut 2 of them, then sew them together just like the stock one.

Yup... if you can do it yourself. Of all the stuff I can do myself when it comes to my car, sewing is definately not one of them.

You might find this kinda ghetto, but i found that you can use black shoe polish and get your shifter boot looking good as new. Just shine it like you would a shoe.

I just had one made at my local upholstry shop for $10. It fits pretty good but the material isn't quite as nice as factory. It was pretty easy to remove and install. Pretty much anyone can do it. I may see later about getting another one made in an actual leather material instead of vinyl.

I replaced mine with one found in a yard. I cleaned it with saddle soap, and as joezero suggested, I applied black shoe polish, then buffed. Looks great.
