Battery Relocation Ideas

two yellow top optima batteries, one for the engine, one for the stereo. i was thinking about putting them both, one on one side of the rear fender walls. than i got to thinking about weight and realized the car would be rear heavy and would sit too low in the back. has anyone tried anyting else with their batteries. i was thinking maybe under the rear seats, i'll check later for clearance issues.

Hmm Do you really think that they will way the back down that much? Maybe you only need one. You've gotta have a pretty big system to need that. I'm thinking that they won't fit under the rear seats, maybe you could ake them out and build a sort of box over the batteries. That might be cool, but many ppl are opposed to removing the rear seats.

I kinda wanted to get one of those batteries, was gonna get one when I thought my old battery was gone, but it turned out to be something else. So do they fit where the original battery sits? And how much do they usually go for, and where?

Good Luck

i pulled out the panel where the spare tire is and with all my sound deadening and whatnot, i got about 8" to fit a battery back there, the other side is prolly close to the same. if i just put the battery back there with no storage box thing, there will be a few inches to spare. i pulled out the rest of the stereo today and i did a before and after measure, and the steroe droped the car a little over an inch in the back. ( new knoi's and eibachs in the corners ) the battery does sit where the stock one does, but i didnt use the stock holder down rubber thing. it just wouldnt work. not like it can fall anywhere anyway. i got them here locally though "taylor automotive" for $350 canadain after tax and enviro fee. make sure you check to see wether you need the top post, side post or top/side post setup.

I put my 2nd battery in the tray directly opposite the stock location. Had to relocate the charcoal canister and a few other things. My cruise control didnt work, so I pulled it out, but you can relocate that if you have it.

Also, are you going to get an isolater to run the two, thats what I did. You can crank the stereo with the car off and not worry about being able to start the car later. Good investment if you ask me.
