Body Shop lost my F-ing keys!

Motha-...
Car was supposed to be ready March 15th. I went by today and they tell me they lost my keys. Car is painted but he says he needs to touch up the front again. This place is becoming more ghetto by the minute.

Anyways, I have the pass key thingy on my key. How much does it cost to replace them cause the body shop is gonna pay for it.

You can buy the Pass Key at the Dealer for about 35 or so bucks last time I checked, may be more...

ACE Hardware sells them for about 19 or 20, not all key places do them tho...

I just realized you have NO keys to copy, whoa, that will be a problem. I was thinking they lost a set and you had a spare....

ooooh Boy, There are some 17 or 18 different pass keys that it could be, each is a resistor.

First the Locksmith will have to figure out which key you have to turn the tumbler, then he has to figure out which pass key you have...

this is going to be a problem...

Glad your not paying for it...

Or you could go to a dealership and see if they can get the key codes for you and order keys based on those codes.

I had the same problem dude, the body shop lost mine too, but I lucked out and managed to find a spare set that the my sister thought she lost a year ago, typical woman they turned up in the bottom of her purse, good luck dude, I feel your pain, nothing worse than having a newly painted car and no keys to drive it!!

GM dealers have whats called a intaragotor(sp) that they will umplug the paskey wires and hood up. It will let them know what key you need. 1-15

but your car is at the body shop A locksmith may also have one of these machines.

How Do I know? Cuz I use to work at a dealership.

The only thing i would be worried about is if they really "lost" your keys. Mabey someone has them and then one day you car is gone. Sorry to bum you out but that would freak me out.

Just keep an eye out for any of the shop guys driving by your place at night.

Yeah. I'd say it's time for a new set of lock cylinders and keys all around. Make sure they replace the side storage compartment in the back as well as the cargo-well cover locks, so your door key works in both of those as well. Once you mention that, I bet your original keys make a miraculous reappearance.

My local goodyear dealer lost my keys and I didn't have another set. They got the door and igniton key cut in one day but they needed to get something from the pontiac dealer to find out the value of the passkey. I was out of a car for 2 days. Whats worse, them losing our keys or us not having a copy?

I lost my locking lug nut key for my 89 IROC and I have a tire that is not holding air very well. It has been a huge headache to try to find a way to get them off. GM had not been much help either
