Turning off 91 Shift light in manual cars?

I was wondering if there is a way to turn off that Damn "SHIFT UP" light in any Camaro's that have a manual tranny after 1990. If I put White gauge faces on, will that at least cover up the light ? I'd rather shut it off though. If anyone knows please post.

Just remove the light bulb when you take the guage pod out.
Unless you burn your own eproms you can't change the shift light but since you said you just wanted to get rid fo it....pull the bulb.

Edit: I mean as I plan to do in the future.

maybe I meant to say

It's the chip that your ECU uses to store the data which it uses to meter fuel, control spark, lock up the torque convertor, etc.

If you changed the rpm and took off the arrow pattern or cut out a circle arround the arrow or whatever (so that you see more of the light), AND put in a brighter bulb, the shift up light could be used as a shift light?
