bad gears in the pull down

motor is just spinning. I unhooked it. Can I manually move the pull down up in any way to get the rear hatch to latch?

I saw some of the threads about fixing but right now I would like to get it to latch.

I tried adjusting it up as high as possible but its more down than up on the guides.
thanks

Andy, thanks for trying to refer him to me. But that isn't my web-site. My web site (if and when I get it up) will be www.top-downsolutions.com Don't forget the hyphen! In the meantime, please e-mail me at topdownsolutions@yahoo.com. I stock the 3 parts that commonly fail on the 86-91 hatch pull-down units. This includes the gearnut that jcb999 needs. I hope this clarifies things. Lon
