LS1 rears on

I finished installing the LS1 rear discs today. Wow, what a difference!! The combo of the Z-06 fronts with the LS1 rears really works great!! I found a used LS1 setup near my home so that worked out great, got new rotors and pads, and did the mods at works so I could use a lift instead of crawling around on the driveway at home. Took about 2 days, I did some rearend work at the same time and I work slow on my own car anyway, no hurry!!

I am using the Stillen Metal Matrix pads in the rear and stock vette pads up front with standard replacement rotors. I don't know if its just the combo working well or the pads in the rear maybe, but the car just feels so much better. And that's not to say my drum rears were bad. I did new cylinders and shoes about a year ago when one blew out. They stay clean and adjusted so they worked properly, the 4 wheel discs just feels unreal.

Now I wanna get some new pads for the front!!!

Oh, I haven't even changed the prop valve yet. I have the 1LE 4 wheel disc part just didn't change it yet cause I wanted to see how it feels first...

Stillen pads are the best I have ever used for street/ light track use. I have been using them for about 10 years on all of my cars.

I think I am going to order a set of fronts this week. I am very happy with them!!! Actually it was from one of your previous posts that led me to them. I was researching for pads and you displayed satisfaction with the Stillen pads so I figured I try them out. They made me a believer...

Those rims make those brakes look smaller than my stock 10.5" fronts. My LS1 brakes are bigger than yours!!! ...or at least they look like it

In all seriousness though, I love my LS1 rear brakes, and can't beat the price ($225 for the whole rear, disc to disc). I don't even have the brakes bled all the way and its a lot better than with my drums (which also were fairly new). I'm using the stock drum prop valve. I have a 4-wheel-disc prop valve sitting here on my floor, but I really don't feel the need to install it.

Can't wait til I get my new rotors/calipers/pads on the front, though all stock replacements (except the d/s rotors ) but it should still be a huge difference over my $8 pads right now and chewed up rotors. I can't believe my braking is as good as it is, to be honest, with my front brakes in the condition they're in..

I just installed a 1LE prop valve today, cause I bought it!, and I don't know if I notice any difference over the original disc/drum prop valve. Maybe I would have noticed if I had taken the car out an really leaned on the brakes before I changed it. But I still love the feel of brakes now...Here's a pic...Oh and I completely flushed the brake system with Wagner DOT 5.1 fluid. Supposed to have a 500*F dry boiling temp and its non silicone completely mixable with DOT 3 or 4, figured I can't go wrong with that...
