Brake component selection help needed
My 1990 firebird needs a complete brake overhaul. I plan on getting new rotors, drums, calipers, wheel cylinders, pads, shoes and do a fluid flush. Going to leave the brake lines alone (unless brakes still feel really spongy after im done changing the rest of the parts). I'm not really looking to "upgrade" the brakes from stock, but since im changing pretty much everything are there any specific parts i should get? I'll break my specific questions about each component up so its easier to follow;
Calipers:
I'm just going to get a pair of rebuilt calipers at autozone. however i noticed they have base and performance calipers available. would performance calipers bolt up to a car with base brakes (like mine)? What would need to be changed and is it worth it? Are the performance calipers dual piston? I realize if i go with performance calipers, id need to get performance pads and rotors too and the links i have below would no longer apply because they all assume base brakes.
Pads:
Should I go with composite brake pads? I've read that ceramics are not good for daily driving/street use as they need to get hot to work thier best. Also are those EBC Greenstuff pads any good?
EBC Greenstuff pads at tirerack.com - $53 set
Hawk HPS Composite pads at tirerack.com - $38 set
PFC Z Rated Pads at Autozone - $70 set
PFC Carbon Metallic pads at Autozone - $56 set
Rotors:
I don't want anything special, just a regulare non slotted or drilled rotor.
"Brembo" OE Replacement Rotor at tirerack.com - $43ea
Duralast Brake Rotor at autozone - $36ea
As far as rear brakes go im just going to get cheap stuff at autozone and adjust them nice and tight. I'm not converting them to disc brakes or anything.
Also i should mention that this car is strictly a daily driver and I don't enjoy putting money into it. I'm eventually going to build another thirdgen fbody on the side that will be seeing high performance parts. I am not looking for high performance braking here, just best bang for the buck as it NEEDS all these components. The rotors, pads, drums, and shoes are ALL below specs, im not changing parts for the hell of it. I know i can find a lot of other rotors and pads for a lot cheaper, but ive used the cheapest brake parts in the past they just suck too much. Also im not limiting myself to the parts I linked to, im open to all suggestions if you guys know of some better parts i should use. Thanks for the read...

If your going through all that trouble, might as well put on better brakes. The perf calipers you talk about are 1LE and wont just swap out with the standard iron calipers. You need the whole kit.
I'd go with Hawk pads with solid rotors.

In that case im just going to use stock calipers, not the performance ones.
Anyone have opinions on using the hawk and brembo rotor from tire rack vs. brake parts i can get locally?

Those are good brands. But nothing wrong with something local like AIMCO or Raybestos. Get what ever is cheapest.
