C4 HD Brake prices?

So where are you guys sourcing these 13" rear rotor's for the front and caliper's without cores, brackets and whats a reasonable price for these parts? I dont mind going around $500 for all this stuff including brackets, can it be done with new/refurb parts?

I'm looking at a C4 front upgrade kit but I wont be able to use the 13" front rotor's if I understand this retrofit properly. I'm trying to figure out if its worth taking the kit with the rotor's to just sell later.

Oh yeah do they fit GTA crosslace wheels ok?

Thanks in advance.

You're comparing apples to oranges here...the C4 HDs use 13" front rotors, not the rears. The 12" C4s DO use a 12" rear rotor for correct offset.

As far as parts sources, I don't know what to tell you. I use GM a lot. PM me if you have any questions..

I purchased the front calipers, brackets, pads, hardware and such from a Corvette salvage yard. Decent/OK price, parts in terrific condition. This also provided all of the little parts such as the pins, clips, banjo bolts, bracket bolts. . .

Didn't plan on using the pads, however, they are brand new PBR semi-metallic.

Rotors I purchased new at an auto supply store.

The calipers with all the extras were 150US for the pair. These are the standard C4 setup (12"). The rotors were, 37US each? Can't quite remember on the rotors. Little more then I expected, however, they are Made in Canada which is fine by me.

I was going to walk from any but Made in USA, however, Canada was good too. Just didn't expect rotors to be from North of the border

I got my Grand Sport calipers new from GM for $280. Came with the pins and c-clips as well.

13". They will fit with the C4HD kit, or you can get the plain HD calipers.

Just the caliper. The GS is black and says CORVETTE on it. Its the newer style like Baer uses.

GS calipers on Ebay:

That's a lot of jack for just the calipers, IMO.

Blown, the 13" brakes will NOT fit inside 16" GTA wheels period...GS calipers or the regular ones, they fit the same.

I'll answer your PMs today.

This is killin me! ebmiller88 can you reccomend a brake package that will fit GTA Crosslace wheels? C4 12" rear rotor's maybe? I found one of your posts with a pic, I think I finally get it. The GTA wheel center is basically flat whilest allmost all the other 16" wheels the spoke part goes outward creating room for the caliper. Maybe I need to just need to buy somebodies 1LE brakes so they can switch to C4 or C5 brakes. Do 1LE brake package stick outward anymore than the stock parts?

ebmiller88 sorry if I', being a PITA but those 13" brakes look good to me and now I want something better!

But you have to take into account that those are new and have no core charge. If you get rebuilts locally, you have to add the core charge into the price since they will be no core to return since its an upgrade.

I'd say try giving them your old calipers in return. Most parts places wouldn't think twice, nor would they know even if they looked twice

What gives better braking, C4HD or LS1, or C5? What's a basic price for each listed? Also a price for C4 conversion. Don't bother listing parts separately (unless threadstarter wishes). I'm just curious as to a ballpark price on each and how much difference there is. I know they all need special caliper brackets made/adapted.

Will C4HD and C5 conversion fit under 4th gen 5-spoke 16" rims? I'm assuming all 4 upgrades would fit under 17" 4th gen/ZR1 rims..

Ok...here goes:

Best braking? C5s IMO...larger pad contact area and larger (12.75") rotor than LS1. Guys with C5s and 17" TT2s WILL HAVE clearance issues, just ask Chevy Ken:

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=259966

Basic price for these things? It depends on how much you can do yourself or if you want a total bolt on kit. I did Ken's kit linked above and know what it cost.

I know the HDs will fit inder stock Iroc and '91-92 16" alloy wheels, I cannot say if they'll clear the 4th gen wheels but if the LS1s will fit them then these should also. I do know that the C5s will NOT fit a 16" wheel period. Yes, all will fit the ZR1 style wheels.
