Front Brakes, normal resistance??

Hey Gang,

I'm slowly getting bits and pieces done on the Bracket Car, and have a question about front brakes. As always, some history.

Car's an '83 Z-28, and literally spent the last few years in a barn. I got if off e-bay for 300 bucks, body is 8 out of 10 or so, needs paint and just a relativly small amunto of rust to deal with, mostly surface. No body cancer, and the doors hang straight and close easy. Now for the problem.

The front rotor's are rusted, and while I CAN turn the disk by hand, there is some serious resistance going on. Haven't pulled the calipers yet, but just a quick eyeball says that the pucks have plenty of life in them, and there is no scoring on the rotors that I can see. What do you think my best option would be?...

Don't mess with them, first run down the track will clean off that rust
Pull them, get them turned, see if that helps....
Rebuild the calipers while your doing all this other stuff....
replace the hoses, you may have a collapsed hose keeping them from release fully
Do nothing, put big hole in floor and Flintstone it.
As always, I thank you for your help. I just can't think that this is right the way it is.

Steve

I'd say option 2 on the rotors, just swap the calipers for rebuilt units, and new brake hoses.

If you go w/ option 1 you may qualify for a Darwin Award (post-humously) depending on the strip's runoff.
