1LE brakes ??????

I want to know what is required to swap 1LE calipers and rotor for the standard front disc brakes on an 89 bird? I need new brakes all the way around. i'm rebuilding my rear 9bolt pbr's. Any info helps. I did a search and was not able to find any thing specific to my swap questions.

Thank you

Thanks DartByU, that is what I was looking for. Another question for any one to answer. What if i was to locate a set of 1LE spindles, and calipers. Then that would make it a bolt up, or are the 1LE spindles and the stock spindles mounted diffrently?

Bolt up--but the chances of locating true 1LE spindles are about the same as winning the lotto. As you'll note in the above link, the 1LE spindles simply have the 'ears' cut off stock spindles. Many members have completed this mod to include me. If you're interested, you might buy AndyZ28's CD which details the procedure. Ed Miller also has pictures.

dam

Does any one sell the modified spindles? I'm short on time to make them my self. Sounds like I might just stick with single piston originals for now. Use semi metalic pads and drilled slotted rotors.

Get Ed to do your spindles and buy these 1LE calipers I'm trying to unload!

Check this out

I just found out YearOne sells the 1LE brake set up, calipers, modified spindles, rotors, caliper bracket, every thing, but spendy. One 1LE caliper is like 400 dollars if I remember right.

I just checked and gmpartsdirect.com still has p/n 18060581 (spindle). I can't remember which side this fits. Unfortunately, the other side, p/n 18060582 didn't come up when I did a search. (I got the part numbers from a Super Chevy article about converting to a 1LE that was printed about two years ago).

What do you think? Order two 18060581 spindles, and try to trade someone for the other spindle?
