stock brakes safe with 17" C-5 rims?
I've put 17" C-5 rims on my 92 vert which used to have 15" stock rims. Tire size is 245/45/17. I've recently been told that this could cause brake failure. Would like to ugrade the front brakes but recently spent $ replacing the pads and rotors.
Anyone know if my set up is dangerous? Also, I'd like to replace the rear rims with 18" C-5's. Since it's the rear brakes, i assume that there's less of an issue.
P.S. how much do i need to spend for a decent front brake upgrade (can i do just the front brakes)?
Thanks in advance!

the stock brakes will work , but you might notice a difference with the weight if the c5s are heavier than the 15s .You could just do like some slotted rotors and some nice pads. But you could also do like a c5 brake upgrade.

Its up to you on the braking issue. Nothing is going to break (haha...) on you. If anything, you just might not stop as quickly because of more rotating mass, but that comes down to how safe you feel. It may not make a noticeable difference honestly.
As for the front brake upgrades, it depends what you want to do. You can get a kit from ebmiller88 for like $700-850 depending on what setup you go with. If you want to go the cheap way and find used parts, then don't expect to do the upgrade for a few months. I searched for good deals on used vette brakes all fall and winter and finally found a really good deal a few weeks ago. Now I'm waiting for a few parts from Ed (ebmiller88) and I'll have my new brakes on and working! My total cost into these 13" C4HD brakes is $315, including shipping from 3 different sources (and rotors and hubs aren't the cheapest things to ship
).
