LS1 front brakes, Racing anyone?
I know this is a tired subject, and I have been through the LS1 Brake board, but still have one burning question...
For some background, I currently have the LS1 rear disc conversion and I am looking at doing a front LS1 brake conversion on my 1991 T/A. Once complete, long ARP wheel studs will be used on all four corners and custom wheels will be used with the correct backspacing so that will spacers do not have to be used. Since I am building this car to mainly take advantage of open track events and open road racing, I am concerned with passing tech inspections and such. It is my understanding that many race sanctioning bodies do not allow the use of wheel spacers due to safety concerns. Would (or could) the LS1 brake conversion be teched as a wheel spacer since the LS1 rotor rides over the wheel hub in much the same way as a spacer would? I know that the disc will ride over the hub in the same way it would on a fourth-gen car, but I also know that the hub used in this conversion was not originally designed to carry the brake disc in this manner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from anyone who may have already dealt with this type of issue. Thanks.
