i recently had to put in new hard lines over th rear [the old ones blew open on me]. i disconnected the battery and did the work, i bled the system and the brakes work great. However the brake light continues to stay on. I read in the chilton book that there is a reset button the front brake potioning valve. ive pushed it and nothing new. Ive even disconnected the battery again, reconnected it and pushed the button as i started the car, but nothing changed. what do i do?

it is driving me nuts! its got to go!

 

if the brakes are fixed and theres no air in the lines, just push the pedal down.. it'll turn off

 

it doesnt turn off! ive been driving it like this for awhile. is there a sensor that could be bad? what else should i check?

 

I've had this happen on other gm vehicals. Find the brake light switch, remove it, and take it apart. Play with it a bit to see where it is sticking if you want, or just clean the thing out and put some WD 40 on the contacts and leave it for a bit. Reinstall and it should work fine.

 

Not to be a wise-***, but WD-40 does not conduct current. It acts as an insulator. Contacts need to be clean and dry. I may not be a super car mechanic, but I do know about electricity.
