Drum to Disc?
Drum to Disc?
Now I've been reading up on this and want to know what you guys think, looking for some serious advice here....
I could simply do a drum rear end swap to a disc rear end swap, but from what I know, isn't the disc setup only a 9 bolt, and have oddball size bearings etc, and the drum brake setup is a 10 bolt, with more common and cheaper bearings and the like? I want to build a solid car thats going to have a decent amount of torque thrown at it and don't want to be scattering an oddball rear end and forced to spend way too much money on it.
That said, is there any form of backing plate etc you can get to still use the 10 bolt? or am I completely lost in this whole subject? Just lookin for some advice/knowledge and wanna pick your brains.
The car is an 89 Trans Am GTA/WS6.

Both 9 and 10 bolts could have rear discs, the better sytle being from '89-92. They can be bolted onto either a 9 or 10 bolt rear with correct backing plates. Don't waste your time or money on '88 or older discs, go with the '89-92 PBRs with 10 bolt plates and have fun. PM me if you have any other questions, I have a ton of rear disc parts in the shop and may have what you need.
