I run EBC on my Iroc and although they stop very well, they dust like mad. I won't run them again on my street cars.

meh.
I run the greenstuffs too on a C5 swap and find they work well but like ed dust is as bad or worse than darn near any other pad I have run. Bad enough that I wouldn't buy them again. I had have Hawks on my stock 1LE's and I swear they bite harder and thats a 12" system so? Mind you the greenstuffs sure seem to be wearing well.
I think for street I'm gonna go with ceramics next. My bud has em on his Vette and theres practically no dust. Not a track pad mind you but a good street pad from cold and thats what my car is mainly... mind you its not much anything right now as I need some serious wrench time to finish the LS1 swap

I didn't want to get stuck with that name so I acted like one.
EBC Greens were terrible on my 10.5 brake setup, but they work great on my 13" setup- Why? because they run at lower temps and are not overheating and leaving pad buildup on the rotors like they are notorious for on smaller applications. Dust is NOT so bad I mine either- But we wash the car about once a week so it hardly has time to get dirty.

Ok, So i have heard fro ma few differnet sources, that they either dust really bad or not at all, i wonder what the difference is. 87roc do you really get on your brakes often, or do you use them mildly. I just got invited to be a competitor for a drag league on friday nights at Bandimere's, so i want low dust but good grab and less fade.

Dude I drive it with no mercy in all aspects possible. I killed four clutches in front of a t56 and two engines one of which was a brand new crate engine all in less than 50k miles. I have roasted more sets of brake pads off than anyone i have ever met.
When i did the C5 swap it was my first time trying EBC Greenstuffs and they dust like crazy for me. This is on a C5 front LS1 rear set up and they fade a little more than i would like after too many hard stops although the initial bite is good. I have been in stock SS and WS6 fourth gens with braking thats as good though. The stock GM premium pads are pretty solid and dont dust as much from what i have seen at least.
If I had to buy new pads from the start i would try the Z06 pads for performance but now that I am getting sick of cleaning the wheels two times per day I think I'm gonna try the ceramics next and see.
The only thing that impresses me about the EBC's is they really dont seem to be wearing out much at all. The bite from cold is good but not great. The fade is a little more than I would like. After ten or so HARD stops I find I am pushing the pedal with substantial force although they still haul it down I think the Hawks are more fade resistant. Maybe the EBC reds are better but I have not tried them.
Anyways I really only bought the EBC's cause like you I wanted low dust and had heard great things about how low the dust was from the Greenstuffs. My guess now is the dudes saying low dust just dont lean on em too hard. The ceramics are very low dust though this I have witnessed first hand. The only drag is they are not a good track pad as they dont conduct any heat away from the rotor so only good for a few hard stops but the bite from cold is good.

Considering I just walked all over "9" other local f-body cars at a local autoX (the closest next one being 3.9 seconds + from my times on a 63 sec course- some where in the 70's- And I was the only oone in a very slow V6) I would definately say I lean on my binders very hard.
If you have an application that Stillen makes pad s for though, then definately go Stillen Metal-matrix pads- they are noticibly a superior pad than the EBC greens- They just don't make them for my Wilwood SL-6 fronts or Wilwood Dynalite rears

Well I supose a V6 just dont put the speed out there.
Not to mention my rides is fully jammed AC, cruise, big system, T roofs, Big Kenny Brown style Frame connectors and huge sway bars, big 8.8 rear and on and on so big weight difference I'm sure. Plus I'm running some fairly big heavy wheels and meats. Thirdly I'm also running C5 brakes which I seriously doubt are as good as the Wilwood set up. Factor all that in hence my fade.
Still... Light years better than the stock 10.5 junk. But on my stock 89 1LE with Hawks its just as good but less fade.
All in all though my main complaint on EBC is the dust.

Considering the last CMC race at Calif speedway was running lap times in the range of 1:58- 2:11 on stripped down V8 cars and racing rubber and I turned a 2:09 on a fully loaded V6 on street tires, I think that would quite qualify me as to putting out enough speed to render very hard braking
- I am also an automatic.
I had my GPS in the back seat and it recorded a top speed of 123.3 during that 4 lap run on the 2.8mile roadcourse run.
Don't under estimate what this little V6 can run like so many others have fallen prey to. This brake system I built runs very cool- remember if you have forgotten, I run billet aluminum hubs and 2pc alum hat 1.25thick rotors.

I'm not the little guy, I'm the top dog around here that you need to come try and knock off. Fact is, many have tried and fallen recently and are all scratching their heads is amazement just like you would be if you live close enough
Tell me this, what good's all that HP if you can't control it and I swing around you and exit a corner faster than you. You then play catchup and pass me going down the next straight, yet I out brake and pass you again only this time before the next corner so upon exit of the next corner you have to try even harder to catch me. This car carries its speed- don't underestimate it like you are. (You starting to understand why I don't need brake ducts now?) I don't have to slow as much going through the same corner, and when I do use the binders, it slows me much faster and later than you entering the corner so my speed carries further down the straight and then through the corner.
It just kills people to think a V6 car can be fast. Do you really think I can't afford a V8, I purposely built a V6, get it? Just so I canfustrate poeple like yourself.

So then, since we have come to this mutual respect now, lets not bring up the topic of me even having a V6 'kay? Your a funny guy.
When you finally race cars in life with too much HP and you realize its time to tone back down and use some drivng skill, then you will understand how much fun I am having, until then, keep stomping that gas pedal and then stomping that brake pedal.
And you are making the mistake of comparing my V6 to the stick 3rdgen V6 you test drove, not even in the same ocean so you can not comprehend why it can be exciting.

Sure. Funny thing tough I would figure someone who likes his V6 so much wouldn't get so sensitive and defensive when someone jabs at it... Jab away at my ride I could care less I build my cars to please one guy. Me.
Your a fun guy to razz!
Your a fun guy to razz!
and I build mine to do one thing, kick everyones *** while they sit back and claim they are just having fun and it doesn't matter.
If you beat me, I would certainly be hearing about it. Don't kid yourself, nobodies buying it.
-------------------
You're just the next guy stepping up to antagonize me in a long line of people here on TGO- and you don't understand I enjoy disgracing people that are on a power trip- its part of why I come in here and you are the next pigion.

Way to go dean trash up another good thread that actually has some good tech in it.
Mods: Can't you just ban him again as soon as you figure out who he is? I really can't see how his ranting is helping the community in the least little bit.
Tech:
I've got some ceramic pads, and they have great initial bite and don't dust a bit. But like mentioned earlier they will fade if you lean on them hard.

He does seem to add something resembling a very bizarre form of comic relief in the form of something between background noise and opinionated BS presented in the form of fact with a healthy sprinkling of misplaced ego.
As far as the ceramic pads go, it’s like any other pad… it really depends on the brand and in some cases grade. A lot of the full size chevy truck owners swear by the raybestos fleet ceramic pads on a vehicle that was considered chronically under braked.
You also have to remember that you have to be willing to compromise somewhere, there is no such thing as a brake pad that works well cold, hot (doesn’t fade), no dust and no noise.

It is interesting conversation when he's not banned...
But he has supplied a lot of good (and CORRECT) info to the site and I thank him for that.
If the pads (EBC Greens) didn't dust that much I'd love them, but either they dust like hell or I just use them a lot, my Iroc wheels are pretty much black after 10 days or so.

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. Sounds like i need to shy away from EBC and start lookign at ceramics or maybe Stilen, sorry if i spelled it wrong. This will mostly be a daily driver with some serious fun on the weekends so driveability is key. Thanks for all the feed back.

I'd look into Hawk also. I haven't run them personally but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I have a set waiting to go on my truck but with gas like it is, I've been driving my wife's...ahem...Honda.
