brake light

Hey

I have an 86 model. It has the third brake light on the rear windscreen which is not working. Bulbs have been replaced and nothing. All the other lights are working so its not a fuse. So firstly does anyone have any ideas?

I have had a volt meter on the metal plate by the boot latch and testing where the bulbs are and there seem to be no current going through.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram?

Also, how does the brake set the light off (apart from the obivious), since my brake pedal failed and was fixed, and its the only reason I can think of as to why the light no longer works.

If you can help, cool, if not thank you for reading!!!

You might want to also post this Q over in the Electrical forum as you may have more luck with responses there. I thought the '86 cars got the power for that light up by the dome light circuit so I have no idea what it could be, but if you aren't getting anything at the "contacts", then I suspect there's a problem with the light switch in the pedal area.

Good luck..
