different brake q/a

what do u guys think about gm wbody brakes as an upgrade?

they are much more plentiful than a vette, 1le 3rd gen etc...

i seen a lumina z34 that sported what looked like 12 or 13 inch rotors, dual piston aluminum calipers and maybe 10 inch rotors in the rear with aluminum calipers as well.

the wbodies weighed almost as much as a fbody too. any thoughts?? or will it be impossible??

I'm pretty sure the newer monte and grand am cars use the same caliper as the LS1 setup did. The yard I got my calipers said that they cross referenced. I do think the bracket that mounts the caliper to the spindle is different. Depending on the bolt spacing, it may actually work better than the LS1 bracket. Ed, you ever mess with these?

With rotors in the 30$ range, all you really need is a cheap source for calipers and this swap will be in the under 200$ range. I did the swap on my g-body for 200$, but I got my calipers for 60$ from the yard. Another 80$ worth of hardware and brake lines and I was in business.

exactamundo, good brakes for cheap and wbodies are everywhere in the yards.

anyway to find out if they interchange with ls1 stuff? get wbody calipers for nothing and a set of ls1 drilled and slotted rotors online.
